ELISA for the Detection of Nalidixic Acid in Animal Tissues
The MaxSignal® Nalidixic Acid ELISA Test Kit provides a rapid and robust test for the synthetic quinolone antibiotic Nalidixic Acid in animal tissue samples. The kit provides a unique extraction method for the analysis of shrimp, meat, and fish that gives rapid, cost-effective, and highly reproducible results.
The MaxSignal Nalidixic Acid ELISA Test Kit is a competitive colorimetric ELISA assay. The plate wells are coated with nalidixic acid antibody. During analysis, sample is added along with the nalidixic acid -horseradish peroxidase (nalidixic acid-HRP) conjugate. If nalidixic acid residue is present in the sample, it will compete for the nalidixic acid antibody, thereby preventing the nalidixic acid-HRP from binding to the antibody attached to the well. The resulting color intensity, after addition of the HRP substrate (TMB), has an inverse relationship with the nalidixic acid residue concentration in the sample.
Nalidixic acid is the first synthetic quinolone antibiotic. It is effective against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria by selectively and reversibly blocking DNA replication in susceptible bacteria.
