The MaxSignal® Diazepam ELISA Test Kit is a competitive enzyme immunoassay for the quantitative analysis of diazepam as well as other benzodiazepines in feed, meat (including beef, chicken and pork), milk, serum and urine.
Benzodiazepines including diazepam are an important group of drugs which have anticonvulsant, hypnotic, tranquillizing and muscle-relaxant properties. Diazepam is one of the most frequently prescribed benzodiazepines. It is frequently employed in animal production for its excellent growth promotion properties. However, in humans, overdose of diazepam leads to severe side effects. This has led to a prohibition of diazepam for the treatment of animals used for food production. Diazepam-residues can be determined either radioimmunologically or gas chromatographically. However, enzyme immunoassays (ELISA) show considerable advantages over conventional methods. Radioactive materials are no longer required, and the processing time is considerably less than the gas chromatographic method.
This kit is manufactured to the international quality standard ISO 9001:2008.
