The MaxSignal Difloxacin ELISA Test Kit is a competitive colorimetric ELISA assay. The difloxacin antibody has been coated in the plate wells. During the analysis, sample is added along with the difloxacin-horseradish peroxidase (Difloxacin-HRP) conjugate. If the difloxacin residue is present in the sample, it will compete for the difloxacin antibody, thereby preventing the Difloxacin-HRP from binding to the antibody attached to the well. The resulting color intensity, after addition of the HRP substrate (TMB), has an inverse relationship with the difloxacin residue concentration in the sample.
Difloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic which works by inhibition of bacterial DNA- topoisomerase II. It has been proposed for use in the drinking water of poultry to treat bacterial disease, and in fish feed to treat diseases such as furunculosis, vibriosis and enteric redmouth.
