ELISA for Rapid Screening of Histamine Contamination

The MaxSignal® Histamine ELISA Test Kit is a colorimetric ELISA assay for the determination of histamine. The plate wells are coated with anti-histamine antibody. During analysis, sample is added along with the histamine-horseradish peroxidase (Histamine-HRP) conjugate. If histamine residue is present in the sample, it will compete for the Histamine antibody, thereby preventing the histamine-HRP from binding to the antibody attached to the well. The resulting color intensity, after addition of the HRP substrate (TMB), has an inverse relationship with the concentration of histamine in the sample.
