ELISA for the Screening of Sulfamethoxazole
The MaxSignal® Sulfamethoxazole ELISA Test Kit is a competitive enzyme immunoassay for the quantitative analysis of sulfamethoxazole (SMX) in a variety of sample types.
Sulfonamides are widely used as feed additives, mainly for fattening of calves and pigs. Sulfonamides are also used in veterinary medicine for the treatment of intestinal infections, mastitis, and other diseases. Sulfonamide residues may therefore occur in food of animal origin such as fish and shrimp. According to the US FDA and EU-Law, a maximum residue limit for all substances of the sulfonamide-group of 100 ppb in muscle, fat, liver and kidney and of 100 ppb in milk is valid.
Although physical-chemical methods such as high pressure liquid chromatography are widely used for sulfamethoxazole detection, their application for routine screening of numerous samples, however, is limited by cost and instrumentation. Alternatively, enzyme immunoassays (ELISA) show considerable advantages over conventional methods. The MaxSignal Sulfamethoxazole ELISA Test Kit enables the detection of sulfamethoxazole residues below the maximum residue limit in various sample types.
This kit is manufactured to the international quality standard ISO 9001:2008.
Kit Specs
The MaxSignal Sulfamethoxazole ELISA Test Kit has the capacity for 96 determinations or testing of 42 samples in duplicate (assuming 12 wells for standards). Return any unused microwells to the foil bag and reseal them with the desiccant provided in the original package. Store the kit at 2-8°C.
