ELISA for Rapid Detection of Tilmicosin in Bran Mash, Egg, Honey, Pork, Chicken, Milk and Urine
The MaxSignal® Tilmicosin ELISA Test Kit is a competitive enzyme immunoassay for the quantitative analysis of Tilmicosin in bran mash, egg, honey, pork, chicken, milk and urine. Tilmicosin residue has been coated in the plate wells. During testing, sample is added along with the primary antibody specific for Tilmicosin. If Tilmicosin is present in the sample, it will compete for the antibody, thereby preventing the antibody from binding to the drug attached to the well. The secondary antibody, tagged with a peroxidase enzyme, targets the primary antibody that is complexed to the drug coated on the plate wells. The resulting color intensity, after addition of substrate, has an inverse relationship with the target concentration in the sample.
Tilmicosin is a macrolide antibiotic sold for oral and injectable use. It is widely used in animal breeding, and can also be used as a feed additive to promote growth in livestock. If proper withdrawal time is not allowed, meat and milk can be contaminated with Tilmicosin residues. High levels of Tilmicosin residue can also be due to poor clearance of the drug in cases of liver or kidney dysfunction or excessive dosing. The use of Tilmicosin as a feed additive was banned by EU legislation in 1999 (council regulation n. 2821/98), but Tilmicosin is still used as a feed additive in the USA and many other countries.
This kit is manufactured to the international quality standard ISO 9001:2008.
The MaxSignal Tilmicosin ELISA Test Kit has the capacity for 96 determinations or testing of 42 samples in duplicate (assuming 12 wells for standards). The shelf life is 12 months when the kit is properly stored.
